'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' to be screened at Doha Film Festival


Dubai: Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF) is celebrating Indian cinema with a special tribute to legendary director Yash Chopra, who passed away recently. The festival, the annual cultural celebration of Doha Film Institute (DFI), is also organising panel discussions with leading directors and actors from the Indian film industry.
DTFF 2012, which will open with the Middle East premiere of Mira Nair's 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' on November 17, will screen Yash Chopra last film 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer will be screened on November 20.
DFI is also hosting a complimentary screening of 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' for the construction workforce and technicians from the wider community in Qatar. The festival will also feature the 1995 blockbuster 'Diwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge', which was produced by Yash Chopra and directed by his son Aditya Chopra.
The film will be screened as part of the complimentary community screenings at an open-air cinema on November 21.
David O Russell's Anupam Kher-starrer 'Silver Linings Playbook' will run in the 'Special Screenings' segment.
Nair will discuss the making of 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist', mapping her journey to five countries across three continents.
DTFF's Jury Member and director Ashutosh Gowariker will participate in the discussion 'Going Global: Can Bollywood Films Really Crossover?' with Shimit Amin, Kher and Vice-President of International Promotions for Yash Raj Films,
Avtar Panesar.
The session will be moderated by established film critic Rajeev Masand.
Showcasing over 87 films from across the world under distinct themed sections including Arab Film Competition, Made in Qatar, Contemporary World Cinema, Special Screenings and Tribute to Algerian Cinema, DTFF 2012 will provide audiences a comprehensive and enriching cultural experience.
