Shah Rukh Khan’s Bharatanatyam on the sets of Ra.One

Choreographer Ganesh Hegde has given Shah Rukh Khan some elaborate Bharatanatyam moves for the song Chhamak chhalo in Ra.One. Picturised on SRK and Kareena Kapoor, the song sequence was part of a South Indian party scene in the film. “Shah Rukh wanted me to include some South Indian dance moves. So I interspersed the otherwise regular dance with some Bharatanatyam moves. It’s the first time that SRK attempted this kind of dance form, and he was extremely enthusiastic when working on the hand and leg movements on the set,” says Hegde, adding that Akon has sung the number.
The other song by Akon, Shake your booty, again picturised on SRK and Kareena, will also have the actor doing steps he has never attempted before. “The song is high on energy and the moves more groovy than mechanical. Watch SRK shake his booty, literally, in this number,” the choreographer adds.
